From 2008 to 2016 I had the joy of being in the US Navy and part of an amazing group(family) called the Seabees. Even though I knew getting out was the right call, I suffered from depression because I just couldn't find a job that I enjoyed and wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Fast forward several years and several different jobs in different industries.....

Then in October of 2020 I decided that I needed to pursue my life long love of technology and start a career down that path. While searching for available training I came across a Veteran program called Vet Tec, a program that offers funding for veterans to receive technology training. Using Vet Tec funding, I started attending the Divergence Academy in Dallas, Texas. While at this school I studied Data Science and basic programming skills like JavaScript, SQL, and Microsoft PowerBi.

Towards the end of my time there I started searching for the next step in my journey. I knew I wanted to learn more about programming but didn't know where to start. That's when I came across an organization called Apprenti.

After taking an assessment and interviewing, I was accepted into their Software Developer Apprentice Program that would be based in Columbus, Ohio. So I packed up the car with my belongings and cat, then headed to Columbus to start my training at Tech Elevator. It was here that I got to learn a lot about programming and a look at the challenges ahead of me in this career. These challenges are what really drew me in and captured my interest most. I got to learn Java, DbVisualizer, PostgreSQL, Spring, Vue.js, API, Eclipse, and Visual Studio Code.

Now that I have graduated from Tech Elevator, I am headed to JP Morgan where I will work as a Software Developer Apprentice completing the on-the-job training to complete my apprenticeship. Although I will learn a lot during this time, I want to learn more. So I have decided to do the 100 Days of Code Challenge. This challenge will allow me to continue to improve my coding skills. I have decided to start with learning React, a JavaScript library. To do this I will be following a tutorial by Traversy Media on YouTube that will guide me through "Building a Task Tracker App" with React.

I hope you all will continue to follow me on this journey!
